How Do you Make Halloween Frankenstein Monster Donuts?
I will be adding a handy, dandy video tutorial below so you can see how simple it is. I’d always encourage you to get your kids involved. Sure they won’t look at Pinterest perfect, but I’m sure the little ones will create some great monster donut faces. They will also have great memories of your time in the kitchen together.
First, make the green maple glaze (see below). This will only take a few minutes. A few minutes more if your kids are helping dump, stir and pour. You must allow time for the powdered sugar clean-up now, but it’s all worth it.
Next, dip the top of your maple bar into your new green, monster-y glaze, topside down. Place on a cooling rack placed over parchment paper to catch all the drops. You can have your kids swipe their finger in the drips and lick it off later.
Before it begins to create that nice crust on the outside, add the yellow eyeballs. Turn a green eyeball upside down and set in place for the nose.
Now allow your maple glaze to crust onto the donut.
Prepare to make the hair, mouth and scar. If you are using a frosting writer, just proceed. If using candy melts, follow the back of the bag to melt. It’s super simple. Basically, you put them in the microwave for one minute at 50% power. Stir. Continue this process in 30 second increments until totally melted. I always stop when I see only a few chunks remaining. I then stir to incorporate those. You do not want to over-heat chocolate. Also avoid getting any water in your chocolate. Water + Chocolate = Crazy enemies.
Put your melted chocolate in a piping bag or in a plastic squeeze bottle. Make sure the lid is fastened completely. Squeeze out the chocolate to finish off Frankenstein’s face.
