To create these adorable penguins, you’ll need a few key ingredients that you probably don’t already have in your pantry. Time to go shopping for the materials you need. Once you have the materials, however, the process is pretty simple.
- For the body, you have a few different options. You can purchase pre-chocolate-coated wafer cookies like this. Alternatively, you can coat regular wafer cookies in dark chocolate or milk chocolate candy melts. For a really easy and inexpensive solution, you can always make these penguin “cookies” out of chocolate-covered granola bars…OK…you’d officially call them penguin granola bars.
- White Candy Melts
- Skittles or M&M’s
- Shredded Coconut
- Edible Candy Eyes
- Pastry Bag
How to Make Adorable Penguin Cookies
- Prepare your base cookie. If using granola bars or pre-dipped chocolate wafers, you are good to go. If using plain wafer cookies, melt the candy melts according to the package instructions. Dip the wafer cookies in the chocolate and place them on parchment paper. Stick in the refrigerator to solidify (10-20 minutes).
- Melt white chocolate wafers according to package instructions. Add the white chocolate to a pastry bag or a squeeze bottle. Spread some white chocolate on the bottom third of the wafer in the shape of half an ellipse.
- Sprinkle shredded coconut onto the white chocolate.
- Add two M&M’s or Skittles as feet. These can be any color you want.
- Cut a yellow M&M or Skittle in half to make a beak.
- Put a dot of white chocolate for boy the eyes and the beak.
- Chill in the refrigerator until set (10-20 minutes).
- Store in an airtight container.
