Keto Sausage Chaffle Breakfast Sandwich Recipe
This keto sausage chaffle breakfast sandwich recipe will help you forget that you are eating low carb. The sausage adds tons of flavor while the chaffle mimics a real waffle.
If you are new the concept of a chaffle, you will be surprised at how much it tricks your mind into thinking you are eating carbohydrates.
What is a Chaffle?
When I said to my friend that I was going low-carb, she said, “You have to try a chaffle.”
“What is a chaffle? I asked.
She told me that a chaffle is egg and mozzarella cheese mixed together and then cooked in a waffle iron. Easy enough.
You may be wondering if a chaffle needs to be made with mozzarella cheese. I think so. Initially, I didn’t have mozzarella cheese around, so I used a Mexican cheese blend. It really had a very different flavor profile that wasn’t as desirable.
With one egg, 1/2 cup mozzarella and 1 Tbsp of almond flour, chaffles have net calories of 193 and net carbs of 3.5. If you take away the almond flour, which is perfectly fine, it takes away 2 of those carbs.
Why add the almond flour? The addition of the almond flour just makes the chaffle feel more like a traditional waffle with a bit more texture, but it still tastes good without it.

More About the Sausage Chaffle Breakfast Sandwich
While this is a low carb option at 8 net carbs total, this is not necessarily a low calorie option. 582 calories isn’t bad, but you may be looking for a little bit lower if you are more concerned with calories than carbs.
To lower the carbs, you can make the chaffle without the almond flour. Further, if you’d like an alternative to the sausage patty, you could use bacon, ham or prosciutto.
