Today I am excited to bring you my Lakeshore “Learning at Home” review. Are you familiar with Lakeshore Learning stores? I have always loved their products. I have talked about Lakeshore before because I picked out some of my Christmas presents for the kids last December. As a former teacher, I used to buy a lot of products for teaching and my tutoring business at Lakeshore. Now that I’m a mom, I find things there for my kids. You do not need to have a degree in education to see the products they have, be inspired and inspire your kids. I have always known that to be true, but now you will understand it even more with their fun new line of educational toys FOR THE HOME. If you think that this store is only for the teacher, they are out to show that anyone can help their kids learn. There are all kinds of discovery toys, learning games, building sets and crafting supplies. I am a huge proponent of the idea that you are the number one educator of your child, no matter how you decide to do schooling. I would love for you to check out Lakeshore’s new learning at home products at www.lakeshorelearning.com/home. I get to offer you a coupon today for 20% off Lakeshore Learning products (expires 10/31/13). Just click here to access your coupon. Now I want to show you what I recently chose from their “Learning at Home” products.
We chose the Truth or Myth? Science Kit. Although I am talking about the science kit, I do want to give a shout out for Alpha-Bots. We already owned those, and I believe it is the coolest toy we own. Oh – and my kids think they are pretty fabulous too. Seriously, though. I love to play with the Alpha-Bots too. OK – Back to the science kit. This is a great kit for those parents who want to be doing more with their kids but it seems a bit overwhelming to gather all the ideas and supplies. This is simple science in a box with almost everything provided for 11 experiments (you will need to provide a few things on your own to complete some of the experiments).
The kids were super excited when the science kit arrived. The kit has instructions and materials for a number of science experiments. With every experiment I was able to have my kids make a hypothesis. Do you think this is true? Will this work? They would vote and then we would move forward with experiment. We decided to do 1-2 experiments every once in a while so they have more experiments to look forward to in the future.
You can see the front of the card. The front posed the question and told the kids what materials they would need to complete the experiment. The other side of the card gave complete directions and explanations. I liked doing this with my kids and kept the results hidden from them so we could experience it before knowing the results.
Can you put a sharp skewer through a balloon?
Can you transfer water via yarn?
Can taco sauce clean pennies?
Can a lemon operate a clock?
These are a few of the questions we have explored so far, and I look forward to exploring more. Like I implied, kits like this just make it so much easier. Most everything is included in one box. It will inspire your kids to be inquisitive and explore science with a hands on approach to learning. All of the kids (and their friends) had a lot of fun learning more about their world.I hope you will stop by and checkout all the “Learning at Home” product line and inspired to be the #1 educator of your own children.
Just bought those alphabot things – those are really cool and I was just talking about how Miles needed some characters to play with besides the daddy from the dollhouse and our sole ken doll from my childhood:) I hope these will fit the bill!
Hilarious. We really play with them a lot. I think you’ll really like them!
