Knowing my sister-in-law’s design aesthetic, it was no surprise that she came up with a clean, well-designed modern black bear first birthday party for her adorable son. I know she was strict on her budget, so I believe this adorable theme can be re-created for any celebration. If you are celebrating a first birthday party soon, you definitely want to consider doing my favorite first birthday tradition.

Modern Black Bear First Birthday Party
A first birthday is a huge milestone. Why not celebrate it in style? When it comes to design, I love my sister-in-law’s taste. She is not going to do a typical baby theme, which is why we provided her with a baby shower that had a unique mountain theme.
She is modern and simple. I think you will appreciate her design aesthetic, even if your style is more involved.
Check out the cake. Cake decorating is one of my hobbies. You can find my cake designs here. Using my favorite buttercream frosting, she did a simple black and white layered look with exposed sides, which can be accomplished by most bakers out there. On top she added plastic black bear figurines
.
Large cardboard letters
spelled out “ONE” in bold celebration. She found a black bear stamp
and used black ink
to stamp onto plain white dessert napkins
. The larger white paper dinner napkins
had a small tree stamp on them. She wanted a simple triangle on triangle design, so she created her own potato stamp. However, here’s a cool looking tree stamp
if you’d prefer something with more detail and ease of application. The white paper cups
also had the two stamp designs. Also used to decorated the table was a small artificial pine tree
. Simple black paper plates
were also used.
Small brown paper bags
housed the black plastic cutlery
. These were tied with black and white baker’s twine
. I believe she made the black and white party hat, but you can find a cute one on Amazon too
.
Black cutouts of black bears and trees decorated the wall behind the display. What a cute and inexpensive way to fill a space. The bears and the trees were made using a Cricut machine
.

What Cartridge did she use for the bear and tree cut outs on her Circuit?
Hi! I finally got a chance to connect with my sister-in-law. Sorry it took so long. She said she just created a cut file from an uploaded google image. This image was on the 7th page under the search results “black bear silhouette.” Hopefully a Google search will help if you don’t know how to do a cut file. I have no clue.
