Oreo Ice Cream and Brownie Bomb Dessert
Dome desserts are all the rage, and they can come in all shapes and sizes. A chocolate dome can be placed over a dessert. The dessert can be made inside the silicone mold so that it is in the shape of a dome.
Like this Oreo ice cream and brownie bomb dessert, this option has two domes put together to create a sphere. Pouring warm chocolate fudge over the sphere melts the chocolate to reveal the treat hidden within.
In this case, Oreo ice cream on top of a brownie is revealed. Who wouldn’t love that?
This is a semi-homemade recipe that can be adapted for any kind of baker. To make it easy, buy the brownie bites, hot fudge sauce and ice cream at the store and just assemble.
For the baker who loves to make everything homemade, go for it. Make all the ingredients from scratch. There will be a quality difference if you find or have great recipes.
Don’t let the dome intimidate you either. They are really easy to create once you have a silicone mold.

Ingredients Needed to Make this Oreo Ice Cream and Brownie Bomb Dessert – Makes 6
- 2 cups of chocolate chips (milk) or Candy Melts
- Quart of Oreo ice cream – There will be leftovers.
- 6 brownies bites – These can be found at your local grocery store (or homemade brownies cut small – you can use a circle cookie cutter)
- 2 cup fudge sauce (can make homemade too)
- 6 Mini Oreos, for garnish
Note: I use Candy Melts a lot and just decided to do a side by side taste comparison of Wilton dark cocoa candy melts and Girardelli Dark chocolate melting wafers. Girardelli was significantly better tasting, so I highly recommend spending the extra money for the higher quality brand if you use melting wafters. Looking on Amazon, I think you will find better pricing in a grocery store.

- Melt chocolate. If using candy melts or wafer melts, follow package instructions. If using chocolate chips, melt over a double boiler or glass bowl over a pot with boiling water.
- Scoop about 1 tbsp of the melted chocolate into the silicone molds. Using a spoon or pastry brush, spread the chocolate up the sides.
- Place silicone mold in the freezer for 10 minutes.
- Remove from freezer. Fill in any spots that look thin or that you missed.
- Place molds back in freezer if more chocolate was added.
- Remove chocolate from freezer and gently pop out of molds.
- Warm up a frying pan and even out the rims of half of the chocolate domes so that they are even.
- Place a dollop of melted chocolate on a plate and stick one of the evened out domes on it, open side up.
- Set a brownie inside the dome. Note: All this, up until this point, can be prepped ahead of time until you are ready to serve.
- Right before serving, place a small scoop of ice cream on top of the brownie. Put a mini Oreo on top of that.
- Take the remaining domes and even out the edges on the warm pan. Immediately place them onto the dome that contains the brownie. Hold gently for 10-15 seconds.
- Warm fudge sauce to hot and pour over domes at the table. This is the wow factor moment.
- Enjoy immediately.
I get in moods where I binge watch competitive baking shows. Whenever I do, I am inspired. Ideas start flowing.
With dome desserts trending, I wanted to provide this dessert bomb recipe for you. However, I wanted to make it accessible to even the most novice baker.
The dome shell is so easy to create that even my 11 year old daughter did it on her own for a recent science project at school where she had to represent the components of a plant cell in cake…at least that was one of the options. The chocolate dome became the nucleus.
The great thing about this dessert is that you can mix and match flavors too. Chocolate chip mint your favorite? Do that. Like Rocky Road ice cream? Why not? Want a white chocolate shell? Go for it. There are so many different combinations possible.
