Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and I’m sure you are scanning the internet and Pinterest for ideas to make it special. If you are looking for a card that your child can help make and take to their classroom, I really hope you consider this You Rock Valentine printable. The printable I created was made to fit Rock Candy suckers exactly.
The first thing you need to do is print out my You Rock Valentine printable. The printable I made free for you, so you just need to click on the link to download the PDF. You’ll want to trim off the edges and cut right down the center. My wonderful husband helped Abby for a bit until Abby could do it all on her own. She did a bunch of them and then decided she was done. My husband finished off the rest.
For this Valentine card, you will need the Your Rock printable, Rock Candy Suckers (you will find these at Party City in any number of colors), glue dots and some sort of ribbon or string. You also need some sort of wrap for rock candy suckers so they can be packaged individually. I used an inexpensive sandwich bag, but you could use cellophane or Saran Wrap.
So that I could see the rock candy sucker clearly from the front, I pulled it taught in the back and did a spiral twist with the plastic along the back edge. I tried to show you the front (left) and the twisted back (right) so that my technique was a bit more clear.
Above is the picture of what these candy suckers looked like when they are all wrapped up.
The next step is to put the glue dots on the back. There are different types of glue dots. I had one on hand but needed a refill pack. I bought 1/2″ glue dots. There are low profile glue dots or a thicker variety. I actually preferred the thicker glue dot for this project, although both worked just fine. I believe the thicker dots have different tack levels, providing different levels of strength.
Abby was able to help in doing the glue dots, writing of her friends’ names and cutting of the printable. I encourage you to get your kids helping out as much as they can so they have ownership over the gift and card.
Love this idea!!!! i think that I am going to use it for Ethan’s valentine’s day party, as well as you idea for the valentine’s box that you posted earlier.
