Respect
“‘Honor your father and mother’ — which is the first commandment with a promise–‘that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.'” – Ephesians 6:2-3
Today, we focused on respecting our world. We talked about how God gave us a beautiful planet, and we are suppose to care for it. We talked about how garbage goes in a garbage bin. We also discussed recycling and not using too much water or paper products (unless it’s paper towels, in my opinion…definitely a character flaw). We also took a walk around the neighborhood with gloves and bags. The girls had fun on their treasure hunt for trash. Abby joyfully exclaimed, “It’s a good day for trash finding.”
The best way to show kids how to respect our world is take positive actions to do it as an individual and as a family. Having your kids walk through their own neighborhood and help make it more beautiful is a simple and yet powerful step. I hope you get out and do this simple activity with your kids.
I just found your entire blog, already I am thrilled to start working closer with my children. It saddens me to see no comments on this post, you are doing a wonderful thing. Thank you for helping all the moms out here teach our children about the important things in life.
How encouraging. Thank you so much for commenting. I’m so glad you discovered my character development series. It’s super close to my heart and passion for raising kids. I hope I become a great resource for you. Let me know how I can help!
