We parents are out of town for the next few days, and the grandparents are stepping in. I wasn’t about to write a kindness lesson plan for them, but I also didn’t want the subject to be ignored for the next few days, so I went to our church library and picked out some books.
The “Building Christian Character” (Suzy Swoof is this book) series by Michael Waite is one of my favorites.
My kids also love the Berenstein Bear books.
The great thing about the “Help me Be Good” series by Joy Berry is that things are so clearly outlined about behavior to avoid. That said, I do like to emphasize behavior we want vs. behavior we don’t want. It’s a slight way of thinking, but instead of saying, “Don’t whine and cry.” It’s better to say, “Have a happy heart.” I talked about that in my tip on Day #8. That said, I still think it’s a good book series.
I also want to give a shout out to my blogging friend, Trina, who has an amazing heart for kids. She has been inspired by the character development series we’ve been doing. I love her version of what we have been doing. I’d love you to check it out to see if her adaption would work well for your family.
