Woodland Baby Shower Ideas
Life is changing. When you volunteer with youth, they grow up. It’s weird how that happens. We go from celebrating graduations to weddings and now, baby showers. It is showing my age, but it’s also just a blessing to walk alongside these kids…OK, not so much kids anymore…for so long.
One of my youth group girls is now a mommy, and I was able to throw her a shower with the theme she desired: a forest-themed baby shower. I love a good theme, and this one did not disappoint.
I combined some fun ideas I found online with some of my own ideas to create this beautiful woodland shower. Some of the ideas I found on Pinterest, but it didn’t link to a specific site.
This was a dessert shower, and I’m excited to show you some of the woodland-themed food ideas.

Food Ideas for a Woodland Baby Shower

Hedgehog Donut Holes
I purchased churro donut holes from Costco. To turn donut holes into hedgehogs, place the donut holes on a long skewer and dip them in dark chocolate candy melts, melted according to the package directions. After dipping half of the donut hole in chocolate, immediately roll the chocolate side in chocolate sprinkles. Put some of the melted chocolate in a piping bag fitted with a number 2 piping tip. Place on parchment to allow the chocolate to harden.

Wild Mushroom and Dirt Pudding Cups
This idea I found at Home Cook Notes. Head over there for full instructions.

Pine Tree Cupcakes
For the pine tree cupcakes, I baked my white velvet cake in white cupcake wrappers. These were topped with my favorite buttercream frosting recipe mixed with green food coloring. The buttercream was piped onto the cupcakes using a grass piping tip.
To make the trees, lay pretzel sticks down on parchment paper. Melt green candy melts according to the package directions, and fill a piping bag fitted with a #3 piping tip. Then, simply go back and forth, drizzling the chocolate, starting with longer stretches and then going more narrow toward the top. Here’s a helpful YouTube tutorial. The video tutorial had the chocolate closer together, and I think that was a good plan. Not all of mine survived, and I think having more branches would have helped with that.

Chocolate Fountain
The mom we were celebrating loves a chocolate fountain, and luckily, I have one. They are so easy to do and add a lot of excitement to any party.
What goes well with a chocolate fountain? Marshmallows, strawberries, bananas, pretzels, and pound cake are always good choices.
Activities for a Woodland Themed Baby Shower

Baby Gift Bingo with a Woodland Theme: Free Printable
Baby gift bingo is one of my favorite go-to baby shower games. The reason I like it is that it keeps people engaged during the gift-giving time.
How do you play baby gift bingo? People write down different baby items they think will be given as a gift at this shower. Here are some ideas: books, swaddles, onesies, pacifiers, a stroller, etc. The center space can be a free space, but every other space should be a unique baby item. Guests simply cross out the items with a big X whenever a gift they predicted is given. The first one with a straight line bingo in any direction (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) wins.
Here is my FREE PRINTABLE FOR A WOODLAND THEMED BABY GIFT BINGO. Simply print the free printable on heavy cardstock, and make sure you have enough pens to go around.

Works for Me Parenting Tip: Free Printable
A second activity we did was the “Works for Me” parenting tip. We had a room full of wise, experienced mothers. For people to have the opportunity to share their words of wisdom when it comes to parenting could be very helpful.
Get your free WORKS FOR ME PARENTING TIP printable here. Print this out on heavy cardstock and cut to size.

I can’t believe I didn’t get a photo of it, but our other activity was to have everyone decorate wooden blocks for the new baby boy. Amazon makes it easy with their wooden block decorating kit.
Devotional and Final Gift
At our church, baby showers have a couple of favorite traditions. One is that a mom who has been a mentor to the new mom writes a devotional for the mom to be. This is a sweet, personalized message that always points back to Jesus.
The next tradition is that we don’t do thank-you cards. New moms have enough going on, so we give them a pass on needing to write thank-yous. We accept that the in-person thank-you is thanks enough.
Decorating for a Woodland Baby Shower

In previous pictures, you saw the food table with the hello baby sign. The food made up most of the decorations in that area.
This shower was done at our church, so we covered the large, round tables with a black tablecloth. A green cheesecloth table runner was placed down the center. On top of that, we placed a raw wooden charger that housed a forest-themed baby book, a mason jar full of wild flowers, baby’s breath, and eucalyptus, with some pinecones and more flowers and greenery around the bottom. Each table had a stack of baby bingo and “works for me” cards.
As mentioned, the books became her baby gift from me.
I hope you enjoyed exploring this woodland-themed baby shower with me. Happy planning!
