This succulent shower was done for a baby boy, but it can always be adapted to welcome a little girl into the world.
If you are planning a baby shower, I think you will appreciate this post that shows you how to plan a baby shower like a pro.
Succulent Baby Shower Ideas
I would love to provide you with all the ideas you need to put on your own amazing succulent baby shower. From decorating to food, I’ve got you covered.
The color scheme we chose was paper bag brown, blues and greens. We created a dessert table, main tablescape for the meal and a great taco bar food buffet.
This was a baby shower for my beautiful sister-in-law, Jenn. Isn’t she adorable? I partnered with my other sister-in-law, Julie, to bring the shower together.
How to Create a Succulent Dessert Table
Creating the succulent dessert table was super fun. The most enjoyable part was watching the surprise on people’s faces as they discovered what they were looking at was actually dessert.
You see, we actually disguised the desserts to look like succulent plants.
Above you see our chocolate mousse dessert cups. The full recipe and instructions can be found here.
These were crazy tasty and super fun to serve.
The other dessert served were chocolate cupcakes in mini terra cotta pots. These were also disguised as succulents using the succulent chocolates on top of Oreo covered frosting. Instructions coming soon.
Also on the dessert table you will find faux succulent plans placed in cylinder glass vases with small decorative rocks.
On the wall you see “hello BABY,” which I had also used in my bow tie baby shower. These were large cardboard letters paired with a wall hanging that says “hello,” which I found at Joanne’s Fabric.
Hanging on the walls were globe hanging succulent containers. I have linked to a similar product on Amazon made of real glass, but we found the plastic ones at the Dollar Store. Yay for the Dollar Store!
The hanging succulent containers were hung a foot away from the wall at varying heights on fishing line. We used Command Hooks on the ceiling.
We filled these hanging succulent containers with dirt and small succulents.
We also added a sign that said succulent desserts, so that everyone knew what they were actually looking at.
My sister had purchased this beautiful wooden trivet with marble for me for Christmas. This was laid atop a blue table runner, which we sewed. The fabric was purchased at Hobby Lobby.
The table was covered in a long roll of craft paper.
How to Create a Beautiful Table Decorations for a Succulent Baby Shower
The dining table was covered with the jumbo roll of craft paper.
My sister-in-law spent a lot of time sewing a perfectly fitting table runner and napkins. We were particular about the blue we wanted and had the desire to save money, so this was the result.
I’m linking to a set of blue napkins just in case you want to skip the sewing. I wouldn’t blame you! Here’s a blue table runner as well. They might not match perfectly.
Look at my sister-in-law’s adorable belly creeping out over her table setting. So cute!
The table setting included plain white plates with a wood textured smaller plate on top. We had plastic gold silverware. Each place setting had a succulent branch name plate tucked inside the napkin. My sister-in-law made the name place settings.
The center of the table had the table runner with succulents atop. The small faux succulents we found in the dollar section of Target.
I found some similar faux plants on Amazon, but they are in gray pots, which would also be cute.
The table also had three larger faux plants in glass jars with small decorative rocks.
What Food to Serve for a Succulent Baby Shower
I already showed you the dessert table with all the ideas for dessert.
However, our baby shower was also a lunch.
What kind of food pairs with the concept of succulents? This meal also needed to feed the masses. Time for a taco bar!!
It was fabulous, and soon I’m going to write about all the elements you need to make an amazing taco bar for group parties.
