Decorating Ideas for a Bridal Shower
It’s a new season in my life. Isn’t it beautiful how God takes us through the different stages?
In my twenties, it was all the wedding celebrations for my friends. Next came the babies with more parties. Graduation festivities came quicker than expected. I’m in that season now with my oldest.
Now, I have had the privilege of celebrating the weddings of both family and friends. I have three weddings this summer. What a wondrous life we have been given.
This particular shower was for my beautiful niece, Emma. Hopefully, these decorating ideas for a bridal shower match her inward and outward beauty…although that would be hard to do. She’s pretty amazing.
Citrus-Themed Wedding Shower Decorations – The Flowers
My little sister is the flower guru. She just gets it. We were able to grab flowers and greenery from friends’ yards and pair them with store-bought flowers. After shopping at our local wholesale flower place, we concluded that Trader Joe’s really is the best and least expensive option around.
Behind my sister, you see a citrus-colored balloon arch. Balloon arches are an inexpensive way to add pops of color to your decor.
I’m always amazed at what my sister sees and gathers just from the yard. It has inspired me to find more free and supplement from there.
Intermixed with the flowers were fruits that we encouraged guests to eat. It was a brunch-themed bridal shower, after all. There were grapefruit, oranges, nectarines, and satsumas for guests to enjoy. Why not make decorations edible? Kill two birds with one stone.
Table Decorating Ideas for a Bridal Shower
Beyond flowers and citrus, I was grateful to have a number of things on hand for this shower. When you host a lot, hosting becomes easier, and you will be able to reuse things that you have already purchased. Beyond that, I borrowed from my mother-in-law, and my sister brought some of her vases and supplies as well. Hosting with another helps relieve some of the burden of cost and supplies.

Some of these items will match perfectly. Others I tried to get as close to our original design.
Here are a number of items we used to create this beautiful citrus and floral tablescape:
- Various Vases
- Citrus Colored Flowers: Peonies, Tulips, Roses, Lilies, and Garden Greenery
- Fruit: Grapefruit, Oranges, Satsumas, Nectarines, Peaches, Kumquats
- Gold Rimmed Plastic Plates (Amazon equivalent – originally found at Party City, which no longer exists)
- Woven Placemats
- Cheesecloth Napkins, tied in a knot
- Cheesecloth Table Runner
- Gold Plastic Silverware
- Gold Plastic Champagne Flutes mixed in with Glass Champagne Flutes
- Plastic Water Glasses
- White Chairs – A while back, I bought white chairs so I could have a really nice, cohesive look when I entertain, and I don’t regret replacing my mismatched metal ones. It was a bigger purchase, but we were able to sell our other ones, and we entertain a lot, so they have already been used so much.
Note: Plastic plates, silverware, and cups can be washed and reused. I encourage it. It not only cuts the costs of your future party budget, but it is also more environmentally friendly.
Bridal Shower Food ideas
As you are planning a bridal shower, I believe food should be of utmost importance. People gather, celebrate, and bond over meals.
For this wedding shower, we opted to do brunch food. What was beautiful about the food presented was that it could be made ahead. I find that having at least 75% of your food in the “make ahead” category is key to entertaining.
We made three different quiches, a green salad, and a lemon loaf. In addition, we encouraged people to eat fruit straight from the table.
This Swiss and bacon quiche, as well as this vegetarian quiche, are two of my favorites. In addition, we found this tomato, proscuitto, and goat cheese quiche at How Sweet Eats, which has become a favorite too. It’s so good.
Here’s a fabulous lemon loaf recipe.
In addition to the food mentioned, there was a waffle bar in play. That said, it turned into a bit of a fiasco. We blew a fuse, so we hosts decided to start banging out our pearl sugar waffles in three different rooms. Maybe I should have made these ahead of time.
For the drink, one of my niece’s sweet friends was in charge. She knew we were doing citrus colors, so she matched that energy with an orange sunrise mocktail. Below you will see my niece with her drink. I told you she was beautiful. We also did lemonade, water, and coffee.
I’m kicking myself because I didn’t get a picture of the coffee labels on the coffee cups, but I made stickers for the coffee cups that said, “The Perfect Blend,” and it had the names of the couple. To make your own, simply buy 3″ round sticker labels, design something cute in the sticker label design template found through your purchase, and print the stickers out. It’s an inexpensive way to add a touch of personalization. Add your stickers to a paper cup or coffee sleeve.
Meaningful Activity Idea for Bridal Shower
It’s always a little tricky to decide on an activity idea for a bridal shower. My biggest advice is: Know your bride.
My niece doesn’t love to be the center of attention. She didn’t want games that were too much or too focused on her. Therefore, our activity was a thoughtful gift for her.
I purchased this wooden box on Amazon. I have a friend who has the tools to inscribe in wood, so I added the Date Night text as well as their names to the inside of the lid.
Besides the box, I had paper, cut to the size of the box, that said, “Date Night.” Here is a free printable of that date night paper. There was also a framed signed giving instructions to write down a fun date night idea. The instruction for the bride is that if they do the date night, they need to send a picture to the person who suggested the idea.
I hope she uses this fun gift.
And that’s a wrap. Blessings on you as you plan your own celebrations. I hope you found the inspiration here…well, inspiring.
