Homemade Pita Chips Recipe & a Healthy Valentine Snack
Ever made homemade Pita Chips? It’s easy and better than any you could ever buy. Click through to find out how.
Hummus and pita chips are a delicious snack. They are great to take to any party. If you make the chips homemade, you will be sure to impress. Just make a lot of them because they will disappear. Before I think they even made pita chips, my mom taught me how to make these. I remember making these with her over and over again. It’s easy and fun. As I was trying to consider non-sweet, healthier snacks for Valentine’s day, I thought about using a heart cookie cutter to turn the pita chips into a delightful holiday treat.
If you are doing regular, triangular pita chips you will want to cut the pita in half. You will see a pocket. Tear that piece into two thin pieces. Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut these thin, half-circles into little wedges as shown above.
If you are doing heart (or another cookie cutter shape), divide the pita into two thin circles. It just takes creating a small slit and then tearing the two sides apart from each other. Use your cookie cutter to create your shapes. Don’t throw away the scraps. Bake those as well or just dip the uncooked pita in hummus and snack away.
Make up some garlic butter by combining a stick of melted butter with 3 cloves of minced garlic.
Brush the pita chips with the melted garlic butter. Sprinkle with salt.
Bake at 400 for 4-7 minutes or until golden brown.
