I was making my spinach salad the other day. This is a go-to recipe for me because of how easy it is to make and because of the amazing flavors. Also, it adds into our diet much needed healthy greens.
This salad calls for candied pecans. It normally takes quite a long time to make candied pecans. I didn’t have enough time before dinner to pull it off.
Rather than using my go-to, slow bake recipe, I decided to make up a quick and easy candied pecan recipe. It has been the recipe I always use ever since.
I knew I needed to share this recipe here with my online friends.
This quick and easy candied pecan recipe is so much more convenient than making candied pecans using the hour long process many are used to preparing.
These quick and easy candied pecans are dangerous though. I can’t tell you how many I eat before they hit my salad. Oops.

YOUR recipe made me feel like like a champ. It as fantastic, it was easy to make and it looked looked spent a lot of time and money on it. THANK you for sharing your secret 🙂
Yay! Glad to make you feel like a champ. That makes me happy. I’m so glad it worked for you. Could you not stop eating them? That’s my issue!
My neighbor use to make these and give us a bag for Christmas every year for about 17 years. We moved away and I haven’t had any for 14 years. I can’t wait to try your easy recipes.
What a great gift idea. Give it a go and let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy them.
Is there something imissing n the instructions. These end up being pecans with hunks of brown sugar globs near them. What a waste.
Did you toss them well? I have a few that end up with brown sugar globs, but mostly they coat fine. I’m so sorry they didn’t work out for you.
Agree. Mine did the same.
Hmm…I’m so sorry!
How do you store thermal?
I just put them in a large Ziplock bag once they are cooled. I hope you enjoy them! 🙂
Hi, I only have dark sugar, would that be okay? I think there’s also a light brown sugar …… I usually only keep dark brown stocked at home.
I will be buying more pecans in my next grocery trip! My boyfriend loves pralines, this looks like the same thing to me. So I really hope he enjoys these, so I can make the batches at home instead of him buying them elsewhere!
I am excited!!
That will work just fine. I’ve done it before. Sorry I didn’t get back to you until now. You may have been making them this weekend, but I try and take the weekends off to be with my family. 🙂 Hope you love them.
I just made these, doubled recipe, kind of globby, yes I tossed well. I jut went in with my hands and tossed and mashed sugar…. hope hey harden ,been 20 minutes…
Let me know how they turn out.
Turned out not so good. The sugar would not stay on nuts. Would not recommend. Next time I’ll go the long way.
I’m sorry to hear that. I make them all the time. Not sure why it didn’t work. 🙁
I made your recipe this morning and followed directions perfectly, how long does it take for the candied pecans to dry? Mine are still sticky after 2 hours.
They should have dried up quicker than that. I’m sorry you are having issues.
I wonder if weather, altitude, etc. makes a difference.
I have this problem with recipes that are supposed to set or dry. I always wonder if it’s the humidity.
Yes, it’s so interesting. I have a bunch of tried it comments on Pinterest too. So many people love it and have a great experience with the recipe. Some comment that it didn’t work. I think you might be right about that. It’s been my best guess too.
This recipe sounds great. Do you melt the butter on the stovetop? Do you continue on the stovetop until all the sugar is melted? Thanks!
Yes. That’s how I do it. 🙂 Enjoy!
It would be good to say to continue cooking until sugar is melted 🙂 I too had problems with it, as written.
Just updated it with that wording. Thanks for the input. Did you have success when you made sure the sugar was completely melted. I’ve been surprised by the negative results, but maybe this is the missing piece that wasn’t common scatted well.
I too had trouble… my sugar would not completely melt. I stirred & stirred until the nuts started to fall apart. I loved the taste and have decided to try this again, BUT next time I will melt the sugars in the butter first, then add the nuts. I think this way the nuts will get better coverage and get over stirred, I hope. Carol J.
I hope so too. I’m sorry for your difficulties. I am wondering if this recipe is really sensitive to the environment. I’ve never had issues where I live, but it seems that others have. I’m so sorry!
About to make these .. so excited as I make candied nuts every year for gifts and I’m short on time. Have you tried this method with Walnuts or almonds? TIA
I have not tried other nuts. You will have to report back to let me know how it went. Hoping for some success stories. 🙂
Soggy baked for 1/2 hours @200 still soggy; will try again at 300, disappointing,
Man. I make these over and over and haven’t had the issues that people describe in the comments. I know this is one of my most visited recipes, so I’m not sure what is happening. I’m so sorry. I know what is like to find and try a disappointing recipe. It feels like a waste all the way around. Since I have continued success personally, I’m not sure how to fix it either.
Where is the receipt for the heath bar b crack
Here’s the recipe for the Heath Sheet Bar cookies: https://meaningfulmama.com/heath-bar-sheet-cookies.html and here is the recipe for my easy and chewy Heath bar cookies; https://meaningfulmama.com/easy-and-chewy-heath-bar-cookie-recipe.html – Hope that helps.
I’ve made these pecans many times and never had an issue with them. I double the recipe and send half to my granddaughter, who’s away at college. She loves them, too. I add a little fine sea salt to the mixture before pouring it out of the skillet, and then put a light coat on top to dry. Like some of the other reviewers, I also have some of the sugar sticking to the pecans rather than just all blending in, No complaints…they’re delicious!
Thank you so much for the great review. If you wanted to add a star rating that would help others. I have been confused as to some of the comments as I, too, haven’t had issues and get compliments when I serve them. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Just made them with sugar and brown sugar substitutes to make them low carb. They came out wonderful! And the smell was divine!
Yay! Thank you so much for the great review and potential adaptations. Appreciate your comments and willingness to rate the recipe.
I just made them but I used walnut and add extra cinnamon and sugar on them after I put them paper to cool taste great
Thanks so much! Add a rating if you are willing. That’s super helpful to me. I really appreciate the comment!
Hmm…Sorry it didn’t work out for you. Maybe the heat was too high.
How Long Do they stay good at room temp? I love Them❤️
They never last long enough to know in my house, but I just looked up what people are saying online, and they say a week in an airtight container. Three weeks in the refrigerator and up to two months in the freezer. I hope that helps. Sorry it took me some time to write back.
Made 4x..never get to share…I eat all by myself sooooo good. Bless you
Love that you love them. Thanks for taking the time to review!
Could these be put into a canning jar and vacuum sealed now for Christmas. It’s end of April.
I have never done this. I’m so sorry I don’t experience with it. I tried to Google, and it says you can vacuum seal normal nuts for up to 6 months, so I don’t imagine they’d last until Christmas. Do let me know if you try.
