If you have been hanging around this week, you’ve seen that we’re in full blown five year old ice cream party mode. We’re down to the wire here. Today we worked on a number of things, but what I wanted to show you are our chocolate dipped ice cream cones. They’re really easy, and the kids had a lot of fun helping.
Are you intimidated by the thought of chocolate? These candy melts make it really easy. Making chocolate suckers with molds has been a hobby of mine since Jr. High. I used to give them as gifts at every holiday. All you do is boil water in a double boiler. Don’t have a double boiler? Just stick a glass bowl over a pot. Put water in the bottom pot and boil. Once the water reaches a boil, turn off the heat and put in the chocolate, stirring into melted. Once melted, it’s ready for use.
We had our toppings chosen – mini chocolate chips, coconut, Reese’s Peanut Butter Chips, Marshmallows and sprinkles. I dipped the cones in both white and dark chocolate. The girls then would sprinkle or set the topping on the cone. Then, you stick it straight in the refrigerator to let the chocolate firm up. It only takes minutes and you have your adorable cones ready for eating.
How gorgeous! Such a great idea for a party or celebration 🙂 I’m sure most kids would love these! I live inAustralia, so might have to substitute some of your products with our own, but might give it a go still 🙂
Cute blog!
I’m sure you could find products that would work in Australia. Any chocolate that turns hard will work. Have fun with it. Thanks so much for visiting.
These are super beautiful!
I loooooooooooove this idea – it’s fun and very easy-to-make
Thank you! It was really simple. The kids loved helping.
Yummy, man I guess I have to buy these too on Monday.
Yup – off to the store you go! Big hit. Thanks!
how fun to make them EXTRA SPECIAL with these easy additions!
Thanks so much for commenting. We had fun with them.

Thanks for letting me know about your link party. I just stopped by your wonderful site and linked up. Thanks so much for letting me know about it.
Good idea, I may have to do this with my daughter. She is more interested in the cones than the ice cream. Visiting from the Handmade Tuesdays Link Up, love your blog – now following GFC 🙂
Thanks so much stopping by and following along! I had someone at our BBQ that threw some caramel on the cone and ate it alone since they couldn’t have ice cram. Your daughter will love it.
Oh I love this idea! So smart. Thanks for sharing at Etcetorize this week!
Thanks – easy too. Thank you for hosting us!
This would be a great project for me and my girls to do. They love helping me in the kitchen =)
I hope you do it. They will love it. I also used the left overs at a BBQ we had, I and I realized what a hit they are in any setting – not just an ice cream party. People loved it.
What a Great idea! I’d LOVE it if you came over to Cast Party Wednesday and shared your fun idea with us. Thanks, I hope to see you there!

They are pretty fun to make. I think there are tons of options too. I was looking for those mini M&M’s, but I couldn’t find any. I bet they’d have a blast finding different options in the candy section.
looks so good, and what a great addition to an ice cream party!
Thank you so much.
Ok these are too cute! And I love that it is something the kids can help with! Would love for you to link up at my ‘Pin It Thursday’ Party– http://www.sweetbellaroos.com/2012/07/05/pin-it-thursday-1/
Tried to do it today, but it looks like the collection is closed. I already saved your button, so I’ll try and link up next week. Thanks!
Such a clever idea! Fiona

Jodi,
I’m so stealing this idea! This is perfect for summer treats and I can’t believe I’ve never made these. Thanks for sharing at Creative Thursday. Pinning this now!

Cute! Featuring these from Handmade Tuesdays last week.
When I initially commented I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when
new comments are added- checkbox and from now on every time a comment is added I get four emails with the exact same comment.
Is there a means you are able to remove me from that service?
Cheers!
I am not sure what comment is yours and am not sure how to remove it anyway. I’m so sorry. I’ve done that before too.
