It’s graduation season, and that means there is a lot to celebrate. These kids have worked hard. They are moving on to the next stages of life, and we get to be there to support them.

I have worked with high school kids, and I also have my own teenagers. My own friends are in a phase where, every year, I have the privilege of celebrating a lot of graduates. This year, my daughter is graduating with a class of 19 others. Parents usually provide a little something for each kid.

What a joy to be able to recognize the accomplishments of these graduates, but also what an expense to take on. It was important for me to find something meaningful to give, but with so many kids to buy for, I needed to find something affordable as well.

How to Host a Special Graduation Dinner for a Small Group of Graduates

As mentioned, I have worked with high school girls. I was leading a senior group a few years back, which meant that I had some pretty special young women to celebrate when June arrived. I decided I wanted to do a special dinner for them.

We had a tasty meal. It was too far in the past to remember what I served, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was my baked chicken Dijon because it is one of our favorites. Pair this with these creamy mashed potatoes and delicious dinner rolls, and you have a winning combination. I have picture proof that I served a larger version of my lemon tartlets, as well as this strawberry lemonade ice cream pie. While I don’t remember the exact food, I do remember the sweet mood of celebration.

If you are looking for an affordable and intentional graduation gift, I can’t recommend this journal more. Some are working with a larger budget, so if you like the journal idea but want to add a little bit more. This year, 2025, adds a fun little opportunity. One idea to do it in these journals is to attach the bill and the coin to the back page of the journal with a little glue dot. I did not test this method! It could potentially tear the back page or not work well. Please experiment. Maybe an envelope with these two items would be a better solution.
