Free Valentine’s Day Worksheets for Kids
I enjoy celebrating Valentine’s Day with kids. So many think of it as a romantic holiday, but I see it as a celebration of love. There are so many different kinds of love:
- Eros – Romantic, Passionate Love
- Ludus – Playful, Flirtatious Love
- Philia – Affectionate, Friendly Love
- Storge – Unconditional, Familial Love – love that is expressed whether the other one reciprocates
- Agape – Selfless, Universal love – the kind of love Jesus showed on the cross for all mankind
- Pragma – committed, Long-Lasting love built on commitment, endurance, companionship
- Philautia – Self Love – This is a necessary love of oneself that makes it possible to receive love from others – think of this as knowing your own worth – a worth that has been given to you by God.
It’s fun to learn about and celebrate these different components of love. Teach kid’s about God’s love with this fun heart treasure hunt, or teach the history of Valentine’s Day.
I know it has become a secular holiday promoting the purchase of all kinds of chocolates, teddy bears, and gifts. Acknowledging that, I think it is both fun and important to teach and celebrate traditions.
If you would rather just have a week focusing on the topic of love rather than things that are Valentine’s Day themed, check out my character-building series. While I have 52 different traits to work on, one for each week of the year, I have many lessons specifically focused on love. All of these free Valentine’s Day worksheets for kids can be used for my character-building series as well.

What do you give your class for Valentine’s Day?
Candy is always a win. Here are free printables for gummy bears, Hi-Chews, Jolly Ranchers, Swedish Fish, and Rock Candy. If you want to give a candy not mentioned, you could always print our my Valentine’s Day joke printables and add your sweets of your choice.
What do you give your class for Valentine’s Day that is not candy?
There are some other food options on my site that are not candy. You could give fruit squeezes and add this printable. Maybe you’d enjoy giving S’More bags. Perhaps you want to give juice boxes with cute heart straws like the ones found here.
Make homemade Valentine’s Day cards like this, this, or this.
There are creative ways to give glow sticks.
You could also give mini Valentine’s Squishies, colorful play foam, hatching dinosaur eggs, galaxy slime balls, sticky hands, or Valentine’s slap braclets.
However you choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day, I hope it is full of love, the best gift we have been given.
